The scheme aims to fulfil the brief by creating a building that will provide a place of Prayer and a comforting and consoling space for mourners attending the cremation ceremonies. It will also to serve as a place of commemoration and remembrance for those who lost their lives in the 1916 Rising. The height and form of the chapel, a simple cube is intended as a marker on the site; to give the site an identity and presence, and to provide a focal point for visitors to the 1916 monument while at the same time, not overwhelming it. Also, through its visibility, the chapel will provide a strong visual connection back to the main cemetery.
